stress testing

Post by talkIRC » Tue Mar 27, 2018 8:01 pm

created a blank grass 400x400 map with Tiled (created impossible base for ai to attack for the user/player) started with 9 ai (free for all, no allies by default)
allow to run for 24 to 96 hours in sandbox with random interactions (for the weaker ai's that die and to "maintain" the user/player)
lost track of how long this test ran....
lost track of how long this test ran....

lost track of how long this one went on (sometimes RW crashes after long enough running)

to the point: as the scorch marks build up over time, the game starts to lag and stutter, slow to respond to commands or fails to register a proper command (should note memory usage for program hasn't been noted over 604MB)

possible solution: time to live for scorch marks (similar to dead bodies)

notes:
system spec: 8-core 4ghz; 16gb ram; 4gb dx11+ video card; eats much more advanced stuff alive then RW
RW uses about 604MB of ram when 10GB is free, uses about 25% cpu on 4 cores while other cores are at idle levels, SSD activity is minimal in relation to RW

hope this helps the dev and inspires others to post results to help the dev fine tune the game...

until next time... back to testing
